History:
The first Lions Club was founded in 1917 in Chicago. The Madrid Lions Club was founded in 1929. Lions Club International is the largest service organization in the world with over 1.3 million members in 200 countries. In 1925, Helen Keller addressed the Lions international convention in Cedar Point, Ohio, USA. She challenged Lions to become "knights of the blind in the crusade against darkness". From that time, Lions clubs have been actively involved in service to the blind and visually impaired.________________________________________________________________________
